About this book
The foreword describes Happy Days as a casual selection from roughly four hundred contributions to Punch that had appeared over the preceding nine years. A narrator describes a bronze figure armed with a javelin on a chimney-piece, opposite another armed figure behind a clock, and says that only Margery and the narrator know the true story.
A golf account describes a player topping an approach shot into a bunker and trying to appear to have intended a shot along the ground. Leo Abergavenny says that he asked Miss Sloan to marry him and told her that he was changing his name to Abergavenny.
