About this book
Frank has a mind to disguise himself and asks the tea-grower to provide him with a suit of Chinese clothes. The boy receives a long robe, white trousers and felt-soled shoes from the man who supplies his disguise. Frank Armitage bids his host farewell and crosses the tea-garden late that night, when the moon is rising in the east.
Frank says he has no money and explains that he was robbed of everything he possessed in the mountains. A ransom demand promises release for the addressee and friends if the whole sum is safely deposited in the proper place before the waning moon concludes.
