Hero Tales from American History

Theodore Roosevelt and Henry Cabot Lodge wrote a compilation of stories titled “Hero Tales from American History.” The book includes 26 brief articles that highlight the courage, tenacity, and risks involved in creating a great country. Famous people like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are among the stories, as are unheralded heroes like Robert Gould Shaw and Gouverneur Morris.

The tales cover a range of historical American problems, from bold naval and land wars to deeds of bravery, selflessness, sacrifice, and tenacity. The goal of the 1895 publication of the book is to encourage readers to be brave, strong, upright, and true.
