About this book
It's All Real True is subtitled The Story of a Child's Difficulties. The contents list names chapters, among others, Molly and Kathleen, A Sad Farewell, Two Lonely Girls and The Theatre and the Mission Hall. A chapter headed Molly and Kathleen has night falling on the city of London, a night of wind and rain.
Molly says there is very little coal left, and that perhaps the manager will pay Kathleen to-night, so that they can buy some more. The text says that articles taken from the box beneath their bed were carried to the pawnshop one after another, and that Molly could bear her own privations with patience but was grieved to see her sister suffer want. A first-person account says the speaker hoped to see again the faces of a father and mother and to hear them say that they forgave, but found in a newspaper's list of deaths the name of the speaker's mother.
