About this book
Jane Sinclair; Or, The Fawn Of Springvale is by William Carleton. The contents list Part I, Part II and Part III. Under the Part I heading, the text says that if there be one object in life that stirs the current of human feeling more sadly than another, it is a young and lovely woman whose intellect has been blighted by the treachery of him on whose heart, as on a shrine, she offered up the incense of her first affection.
A father tells a dear child not to take a departure so heavily, saying that if she were acquainted with life and the world she would know that a journey to the Continent is nothing. The gentle and affectionate Jane says she thinks she loves the person addressed, and asks for a kiss, saying that her sister Agnes does when she asks her.
