About this book
Junius Unmasked presents Thomas Paine as the author of the Letters of Junius and the Declaration of Independence. A political argument proposes judging a ministry through the people's condition, allowing prosperity, obedience to law, domestic unity, and respect abroad to support a favorable presumption. The argument says that ill usage may rouse popular indignation and lead to excesses, while placing the original fault in government.
A letter dated January 11, 1843, in Boston concerns arrangements for celebrating Thomas Paine's birthday and requests the recipient's company at dinner. The invitation says that attendance would give the committee and many of the recipient's personal friends great pleasure, provided health and time allow acceptance.
