About this book
Legends of Loudoun gives an account of the history and homes of a border county of Virginia's Northern Neck. The introductory material identifies John Campbell as the Earl of Loudoun for whom Loudoun County was named in 1757. The account quotes Mooney as saying the tribes numbered perhaps a dozen, with the names of eight preserved.
The discussion says there is excellent reason to believe that the people found on the upper Rappahannock also occupied all the land within Loudoun's bounds. The allied bands are described as having no fixed habitation and wandering between Tidewater and the Blue Ridge, from the James to the Potomac.
