About this book
Literary Copyright is a work by Charles Dudley Warner. The text says that this is the first public meeting of the National Institute of Arts and Letters. At the annual meeting of the Social Science Association on September 4, 1899, at Saratoga Springs, the members of the Institute voted to organize independently.
The number of active members will probably be ultimately fixed at one hundred, and the society may elect honorary and associate members without limit. The text says it is believed that the advancement of art and literature in this country will be promoted by the organization of the producers of literature and art. The speaker calls the copyright law, which limits even this poor defense of author's property to a brief term of years, a gross absurdity.
