About this book

Bobby Merrick is a reckless young millionaire whose life is saved by a resuscitator, the same machine that might have saved Dr. Wayne Hudson had it not been in use on him. Hudson's death sets Merrick on an unlikely path. Discovering the surgeon's private creed of doing good in secret and never taking credit for it, he gives up his idle habits, trains as a brain surgeon, and quietly repays the debt he feels he owes, all while falling in love with the doctor's widow. Lloyd C. Douglas, a former minister, turned this blend of romance and moral uplift into one of the great bestsellers of 1929, later filmed twice. The complete novel is available to download free as a PDF and EPUB edition.
