About this book
Memoirs of William Wordsworth is described on its title page as compiled from authentic sources, with numerous quotations from his poems, illustrative of his life and character. The introductory remarks call William Wordsworth the father of a new school of Poetry and say his name marks an era in the literature of England.
The text says that of all men the poet is highest and noblest. The text says that in 1801 Wordsworth presented a copy of the Lyrical Ballads to the Right Hon. C. J. Fox. The text says Mr. Fox expresses his high admiration of many of the poems, particularly of Harry Gill, We are Seven, The Mad Mother and The Idiot Boy. A first-person speaker says they have been familiar with a coast from earliest childhood and remember being struck, for the first time, by the town and port of Whitehaven.
