About this book
Mischievous Maid Faynie is an author's special edition by Laura Jean Libbey. The contents page names chapters titled, among others, "The Lover's Tryst" and "Snatched from the Grave." The assistant cashier makes the first mistake of his life over his accounts the next day after dreaming of a lovely, dimpled rosebud face framed in a mass of golden curls.
The old cashier, Mr. Conway, looks grimly at Mr. Armstrong and says he hopes the young man has not taken to playing cards nights, and he warns him against womankind. Mr. Conway, the old cashier, says to a man called "the bogus Lester Armstrong", "You said to come into your office quite as soon as you came this morning," and the man answers that he has changed his mind. A speaker says that stealing into the house like a thief in the night to search for it is a daring risk, but that there is no other way to get it, and that he must have money without delay.
