About this book

Mosada is a dramatic poem by W. B. Yeats, reprinted from the Dublin University Review. The characters listed are Mosada, a Moorish lady, Ebremar, a monk, Cola, a lame boy, and monks and inquisitors.

Scene I is set in a little Moorish room in the village of Azubia, with a chafing dish in the centre of the room, where Mosada speaks alone. Mosada speaks of Azolar, the star-taught Moor, who said it was decreed by the stars that two will meet before they die. Ebremar says the Moorish girl must die and that he will burn heresy from this mad earth, while the First Inquisitor says mercy is the manna of the world. Ebremar calls out for Mosada, and tells the First Inquisitor that this maid is dead.
