About this book
Mother Truth's Melodies. Common Sense For Children. A Kindergarten is credited to Mrs. E. P. Miller. A rhyme asks Mother Goose why she flies away, and the reply is that Mother Truth is coming that day with funny things that will be true. A rhyme titled TOSS THE BABY tells the reader to catch the baby with special care, lest his little back be strained. A pat-a-cake rhyme is addressed to Mamma's boy, who is laughing and crowing and jumping with joy.
A rhyme called THE BUSY BEES asks why the little busy bees so dearly love their queen, and answers that the queen lays all the eggs. A rhyme describes a singer who echoes canaries, hang-birds and nightingales loud and long. In a verse scene, Jenny brings forth a two-years-old baby-girl to show someone, and a reply says the child was found over the lumber-yard fence, wrapped in a blanket marked Bertha.
