About this book
On Snake-Poison: Its Action and Its Antidote presents the writer's claimed method of treating snakebite poisoning with hypodermic injections of strychnine. The preface says that medical practitioners throughout the Australian colonies had adopted the method and that laymen had used it in urgent cases. The writer says he published his theory of snake-poison's action in May, 1888, after practising the strychnine treatment for some years.
The writer describes Feoktistow's conclusion that snake-poison is solely a nerve poison as being in complete harmony with his own views. The comparison contrasts conclusions drawn from animal experiments with the writer's conclusions from analysing symptoms observed at the bedside of patients suffering from snakebite.
