About this book
Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter is by Theodore Roosevelt, in a new and enlarged edition with illustrations. A chapter headed Hunting in the Cattle Country; the Prongbuck says that the prongbuck is the most characteristic and distinctive of American game animals. The narrator says it was beautiful to see the red dawn quicken from the first glimmering gray in the east and to watch the crimson bars glint on the tops of the fantastically shaped barren hills.
The narrator says the object was, either with unaided eyes or with the help of glasses, to catch sight of the prongbucks before they saw the narrator. The text says the mocking-bird is as conspicuous as it is attractive, and that when at its best it is the sweetest singer of all birds, and the speaker is sorry to say that it does not nest in the White House grounds.
