Pathfinder, or The Missing Tenderfoot, is by Captain Alan Douglas, Scout Master. A roster lists the Hickory Ridge Troop of Boy Scouts, with Mr. Roderic Garrabrant as Scout Master and Elmer Chenowith as Patrol Leader of the Wolf Patrol. The roster also names a Beaver Patrol led by Matty (Matthew) Eggleston and an Eagle Patrol led by Jack Armitage.
Red remarks that one of the two that kept together fell down just at the fork of the trail and asks Matty whether that was only an accident, and Matty believes it was done on purpose. A chum asks Elmer, “Are you expecting to hide behind that box, Elmer?” and gets the answer “Just what I am,” while Mark is asked to close the door after him just as if the shack were empty. A section on turtles and tortoises says they belong to the order known as Chelonia, with Fresh-water Turtles, Sea Turtles and Land Turtles.
