Phineas Finn is the second of Anthony Trollope’s Palliser novels, published in 1869 and the book that brought politics to the centre of the series. A charming and ambitious young Irishman, Phineas Finn wins a seat in Parliament and rises quickly in London society, courted by great hostesses and drawn to more than one remarkable woman, even as he must decide how far he will bend his conscience to serve his party and his career. Trollope, who longed for a seat himself, writes about the daily business of political life with unmatched authority and warmth. About the Author
Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was an English novelist of the Victorian era, celebrated for the Barsetshire and Palliser series, whose warm, realistic novels of society and character remain widely loved.
