The Duke’s Children is the sixth and final novel in Anthony Trollope’s Palliser series, published in 1880. The widowed Plantagenet Palliser, Duke of Omnium and former Prime Minister, must now guide his grown children into the world, only to find them determined to marry for love against his sense of rank and duty. His daughter loves a poor young man, and his heir has fallen for a spirited American girl, and the proud, lonely Duke is forced to weigh his principles against his children’s happiness. About the Author
Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was an English novelist of the Victorian era, celebrated for the Barsetshire and Palliser series, whose warm, realistic novels of society and character remain widely loved.
