George W. Julian’s book “Political Recollections” provides an intimate look into the development of American anti-slavery politics from 1840 to the end of the Reconstruction era. It provides information about the political milieu of the day particularly Julian’s endorsement of the Whig candidate in opposition to Van Buren.
