About this book
Power Through Prayer argues that the Church needs men of prayer whom the Holy Ghost can use, rather than more or better machinery, new organizations or novel methods. The discussion places the glory and efficiency of the Gospel in the men who proclaim it and connects its success with their personal character. The argument compares combined units of prayer to drops of water making an ocean, describing a concentration of faith, desire and prayer as increasing spiritual force.
The text asks whether Paul’s pre-eminence in labours and results can be explained by his ability to concentrate more prayer on himself and his ministry than others. Brainerd is quoted as loving solitude in his cottage, where he can spend much time in prayer.
