Practical Mind-Reading offers a course of lessons on thought-transference, telepathy, mental currents and mental rapport, with practical instruction, exercises and directions. A quoted discussion acknowledges that the inquiry has not yet reached the scientific certainty needed for presentation before one of the speaker's sections.
The instructions have the audience appoint a committee to blindfold the demonstrator and remain outside the room while the remaining audience chooses an object to find. The demonstrator is directed to select a Transmitter on returning to the room, using someone previously practised with if possible. The account of pencil writing says that a pencil will often begin to write words after a few moments of indecision.
