About this book
Praetor's Lunch, by Dom, is introduced as attempts at capturing the thoughts of the ancient magistrate who is having lunch at noon, in the midst of dining. The introduction says the thoughts are expressed in both verse and prose form. A section headed FIRST MORSEL says "We wish for peace ,we prepare for war."
The text says Miltiades and Alexander crushed the might of armed Persian pride, and that Marathon and Salamis undid Darius and Xerxes. A section headed TENTH MORSEL says "We who hold the torch We must be patient Decorum requires it". A section headed TWENTIETH MORSEL says "Emotion in the thick of bandying Eloquence is reduced to instinct".
