About this book

Robin Hood is a 1902 retelling of the greenwood legend by Paul Creswick (1866-1947), best known in the edition illustrated by N. C. Wyeth, whose paintings made it a classic of the children's shelf. Creswick gathers the outlaw tales of Sherwood, Maid Marian, Little John, and the rest into a flowing narrative for young readers. The pairing with Wyeth's art secured the book a lasting place among illustrated juvenile classics.

Paul Creswick retold the Robin Hood tradition as a continuous adventure shaped by loyalty, disguise and resistance to unjust authority. His Robin Hood follows Robin Fitzooth from his early encounters, his visit to Gamewell and the Nottingham fair into the fellowship associated with Sherwood Forest.
