About this book
Scorn of Women is A Play In Three Acts by Jack London. The three acts are set in the Alaska Commercial Company's Store at Dawson, the Anteroom of Pioneer Hall and Freda Moloof's Cabin, in 1897 in Dawson, Northwest Territory, and the play occurs in thirteen hours. The text describes Freda Moloof as a Greek girl and a dancer.
Dave Harney asks a clerk what a paper is called and what it stands for, and the clerk answers that it is a grub contract standing for one thousand pounds of grub. Capt. Eppingwell tells Freda that she is the Lisznayi, and Freda, simulating surrender, says it is a shame to be found out so quickly. Mrs. Eppingwell puts her arm around Freda's shoulder and draws her close, and Freda bursts into tears and buries her face in Mrs. Eppingwell's lap.
