Seven Pillars of Wisdom A Triumph is the autobiographical account of British Army Colonel T. E. Lawrence (also known as “Lawrence of Arabia”). During the Arab Revolt (1916–1918) against the Ottoman Empire, Lawrence served as a military advisor to Bedouin forces. Based in Wadi Rum, Jordan, he orchestrated attacks from Aqaba to Damascus.

The title comes from the Book of Proverbs: “Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars” (Proverbs 9:1, King James Version).

T. E. Lawrence

Lawrence was an archaeologist digging in Syria before the war made him a liaison officer to the Arab Revolt, and Seven Pillars of Wisdom is his account of the campaign against the Ottomans between 1916 and 1918: the march on Aqaba, the raids on the Hejaz railway, the entry into Damascus.
