About this book
Shuddering Castle is by Wilbur Finley Fauley. The opening note says that Shuddering Castle is not a mystery novel in the generally accepted sense, but a novel with a mystery. The opening note says that radio communication is established between Earth and Mars, with a world-girdling hook-up from Radio Center, in New York City.
The narration says that when Henry purchased the place it was almost in ruins, and that it is perched on the summit of a precipitous sand cliff, commanding an excellent view of Long Island Sound. The narration says the place stands dark and foreboding, and ivy-clad, in its own grounds, surrounded by a high brick wall. Prince Matani has a habit of calling around tea-time, and when he asks what the police are doing there, he is told that they are on guard. A speaker says that radio was given to the world to bring about universal harmony, to bring nations closer together, and asks why not interstellar harmony.
