About this book
Stories of the Days of King Arthur is by Charles Henry Hanson, with illustrations by Gustave Dore. The contents list names chapters on, among others, Merlin the Wizard, Sir Tristram, and Geraint and Enid. Merlin breaks into loud laughter as a party makes its way through the busy streets of a town, and when asked the reason he points out a young man bargaining for a pair of shoes.
A knight dressed in green calls Beaumains a traitor and says he shall die for slaying the green knight's brother, and Beaumains answers that he slew the brother knightly, and not shamefully. A passage on the quest says it was achieved at last by Sir Galahad, the son of Sir Lancelot by Elaine the daughter of King Pellam, and that as soon as he had achieved the Grail he died. Most of the Knights of the Round Table are said to have taken part in the quest.
