About this book
Swept Out to Sea, or Clint Webb Among the Whalers, by W. Bert Foster, is told in the first person, and one character calls the narrator Clint Webb. A character named Paul Downes fights the narrator in a sloop’s cockpit while the moon rises out of the sea, and the narrator knots his wrists behind him with codline.
A whale wraps several lengths of line about its body and tows a great, 195 ton bark like a steam-tug towing a steamship. The narrator says that nothing but the desire to set eyes on the man that looked and talked like him had brought him down to Patagonia, and that Captain Tugg was never told the real reason for shipping on the Sea Spell.
