About this book
Telepathy and the Subliminal Self is a work by R. Osgood Mason, billed as an account of recent investigations regarding hypnotism, automatism, dreams, phantasms, and related phenomena. The preface says that, to whatever conclusions it may lead us, there is no mistaking the fact that now more than ever before the public is interested in matters relating to the New Psychology. The text lists classes of experiment, one of them where the same ideas have occurred or the same impressions have been conveyed at the same moment to the minds of two or more persons widely separated from each other.
The text says the first experiments reported were made in the family of a clergyman, by himself, together with his five daughters, ranging from ten to seventeen years of age. The text says that a prayer at the ceremony of the advancement of a Mark Master Mason, although language entirely unfamiliar to Mrs. Newnham, was perfectly familiar to her husband, who was himself a Mason. The text says no claim was made to inspiration nor to the presentation of absolute or infallible truth.
