About this book

Joel is the liveliest of the five Pepper children, forever tumbling into scrapes that keep the little brown house on its toes. Margaret Sidney follows his everyday adventures with his brothers and sisters, from schoolroom troubles and neighborly quarrels to the dazzle of a traveling circus, all under the watchful care of hardworking Mother Pepper. Part of the beloved Five Little Peppers series, the story finds warmth and gentle humor in a family that has little money but plenty of affection. It carries the quiet moral lessons Victorian readers expected without turning preachy. Generations of American children grew up on the Peppers, and Joel's high spirits are the heart of this installment. Free to read in PDF and EPUB.
