About this book
The Banner Boy Scouts Snowbound, or A Tour on Skates and Iceboats, is by George A. Warren. The contents list names chapters such as On the Frozen Bushkill, When the Old Ice-House Fell and The Rescue, among others. Five boys start to skate at utmost speed up the river and hear a medley of sounds. Jack Stormways is just the boy to meet the conditions, and he speeds up the river like an arrow from the bow, followed by the four other scouts.
Abe has fastened a small piece of red flannel at the end of the long tail, and when a dozen lines were out it often kept a man busy attending to the numerous calls signaled by the upraised red flags. Tom says that now they know just how it is done they will get busy cutting all those other holes, and tells Jack, “My turn next, Jack, you remember.” Paul tells Jud he will take Jack with him, Bobolink, and Tom Betts as well, and adds that Jud may come along too, he guesses.
