About this book
The Grammar School Boys Snowbound, subtitled "Or, Dick & Co. at Winter Sports", is credited to H. Irving Hancock. Among others, the contents list names chapters called "Really a Great Plan, But", "The Log Cabin's Telltale Hearth" and "In the Grip of the Big Blizzard". The text names the six young men as Dick Prescott, Dave Darrin, Greg Holmes, Dan Dalzell, Tom Reade and Harry Hazelton. The text says the day was the twenty-fourth of December and that school had closed in order to give the Gridley youngsters a free hand on the last day before Christmas.
Dave asks dubiously "Are we going to make it?" and Dick retorts "We've got to,". Hen Dutcher was not asked to share in this strenuous work and had enough to do in the cabin, the text says. Mr. Fits is turned over to the members of a rejoicing police force and, at the station house, describes himself more especially as being one John Clark.
