About this book

The boy's Froissart is a book by Jean Froissart. The title page describes the book as chronicles of Adventure Battle and Custom in England France Spain etc., edited for boys with an introduction by Sidney Lanier.

The contents list gives, among others, a chapter in which Froissart sets out on a journey to Béarn to seek admission to the household of the Count de Foix, and one in which the Duke of Bourbon is appointed Chief of an Expedition to Africa. The text has a watch, who had observed a fleet, cry out "Ho! I spy a ship; and it appears to me to be a Spaniard." The text says the Saracens were in dread of the Christians and never ventured to attack them but in skirmishes, retreating after one or two charges.
