About this book
The Bridal March; One Day, by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, gathers The Bridal March and One Day, translated from the Norwegian. A bibliographical note says The Bridal March was written in Christiania in 1872, was originally composed as the text to four designs by the Norwegian painter, Tidemand, and was dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen.
A passage names Astrid and Knut, and says that the eldest son, Endrid, was to inherit the farm and carry on the honour of the house. Hans says that he is twenty-eight, that he never cared for any one before, and that he could think of nothing else in the world from the time he saw her, while Mildrid trembled. A man sitting on a sledge, quite overcome with tears flowing down his cheeks, says he remembers a muddy road that the trees shaded so that it was hardly ever dry, though now it is beautiful.
