About this book
John E. Remsburg's first chapter is titled "Christ's Real Existence Impossible". In its opening he writes that his argument is aimed not at the man Jesus but at the Christ Jesus of theology. Along the way the text quotes writers such as Michelet and Lecky and an account by Garibaldi.
One long passage works through questions about the Gospel accounts: whether Matthew and James the Less were brothers, whether Matthew and Levi were the same person, and to which city John belonged. It points out that Matthew and Mark both call James the son of Alpheus, and that John names Bethsaida of Galilee. Another passage turns to demonology and the belief in demoniacal possession, citing a Life of Christ, volume two.
