About this book

First serialized in a French anarchist paper, this is Kropotkin's practical case for a society without private property or wage labor. He argues that generations of shared human effort have already produced enough wealth and knowledge to guarantee everyone food, shelter, and comfort, and that only capitalism and the state keep those goods artificially scarce. From there he sketches how a free community might organize production, distribute goods according to need, and do away with the drudgery he saw as needless.
