About this book

The Death's Head Meteor is a short work by Neil R. Jones, taken from Air Wonder Stories, January 1930. A short introduction at the front says humans are turning their eyes to the heavens, and that space flyers will one day chart the open spaces, and that the space between the earth and the sun holds meteors and dust clouds.

In one passage an interplanetary radio operator of the twenty-sixth century receives a message from Mars, cut into a sheet of thin aluminum in the three universal languages of the Earth. In another, a young astronaut named Jan brings his small space ship up to a meteor that towers over it and sets the grapples; the contact jars him against the side of the flyer and bruises him. In a third, the meteor is gone, leaving a chunk about three feet thick with the twisted grapples around it.
