About this book
The contents list parts titled, among others, The Brotherhood of the Door, Death Trap and Up the Water-Tunnel. Lines in the text ask where the Door leads and gives the answer that it leads outside our world. A detective says that, unless he is mistaken, the Brotherhood of the Door is the most unholy and blackly evil organization that has ever existed on this earth.
Campbell says he knows that every year about this time the Brotherhood come from all over the world and gather at some secret center in England. Campbell says to head straight toward the cliffs in there where that boat vanished, and Sturt warns that if they cannot find the opening they will be smashed to flinders on those cliffs. One character yells to Campbell to get Ruth out and says he will try to hold them back a moment, and Campbell rasps that there is another way, one that may mean the end for them too, but their only chance.
