About this book
The Education of Children is credited to Desiderius Erasmus. The writer warns the one addressed, boldly but lovingly, not to suffer, after the judgement and example of the common people, that the first age of your infant should flit away without all fruit of good instruction. The writer urges looking about for a man of pure and uncorrupt manners who is also well learned, and delivering a little child into his lap.
The writer imagines the reply that everyone has not leisure and is loth to take so great pains, and asks how much time we lose at dice, banqueting and beholding gay sights. The writer says Ouide, being a very young man, wrote his verses of love. The writer says Lucane was brought to Rome and straightway delivered to be taught by the two best grammarians, Palemõ and Cornutus.
