About this book
The Epistle of Othea to Hector, or The Boke of Knyghthode, is by Christine de Pisan. The title page says the work is translated from the French of Christine de Pisan, with a dedication to Sir John Fastolf, K.G., by Stephen Scrope, Esquire. The title page names George F. Warner as editor from a manuscript in the library of the Marquis of Bath.
The text calls the Livre des fais et bonnes meurs du sage roy Charles V. the best known and in many respects the most valuable of all her writings. The text describes Thamaris as queen of Amazonie, a full worthy lady and full of great worthiness, of great hardiness and wise in arms and governance. A note describes Isis, in her original character, as wife of Osiris and inventor of the cultivation of corn.
