About this book
The Eternal Wall is by Raymond Z. Gallun. The opening describes a scream of brakes, a splash into icy waters and a long descent into alkaline depths, and says that Ned Vince lived again a million years later. Ned Vince speaks over the party telephone to Betty, saying he will see her in half an hour.
In one scene, Ned's gaze searches for the source of the voice and finds a black box just outside of his crystal vat, with a small, brownish animal with a bulging head crouching before it. One passage says that he did not know that this machine-shop was built from his own memories of the original, and that this Betty was a miraculous fabrication of metal and energy-units and soft plastic.
