About this book
The Expositor's Bible volume by Walter F. Adeney covers the Song of Solomon and the Lamentations of Jeremiah. The contents list names chapters on the structure of the book, true love tested and love unquenchable in the Song of Solomon, among others. The text says the most serious difficulty for the theory of a shepherd lover is encountered at a point where, to all appearances, a dialogue between the king and the Shulammite ensues.
The text says the man who has seen affliction does not only keep the history of his distresses in the quiet chamber of memory. The text says that Jerusalem has been destroyed, her king has fallen into the hands of the enemy and her people have been scattered.
