About this book
The Game of Logic is by Lewis Carroll, and the text includes a poem headed To my Child-friend. Next to the title are a diagram of numbered compartments and a verse about the colours for counters: the Sun overhead, full and red, and the Sun gone away, the empty sky grey.
The text teaches logic through everyday examples. One passage begins with the statement Some new Cakes are nice, and explains that the world contains Things, which have Attributes, so that a substantive names a Thing and an adjective names an Attribute. It asks the reader to take care over when it makes good sense to put is or are between two names. A list of questions asks the reader to explain terms such as Proposition, Subject and Predicate, and Particular and Universal. Numbered pairs of statements appear too, such as No medicine is nice and No pills are unmedicinal.
