The preface says this edition of the Gospel of Matthew is designed for easy reading and is presented in chapter and paragraph style. The preface says the first chapter begins with the birth of Jesus rather than the listing which can easily be found at the beginning of other editions. The preface asks "What is God's will for us?" and says the answer can be found in the pages of the Gospel of Matthew.
The text says John the Baptist preached in the wilderness of Judaea with the message "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Jesus says "Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees." The text says Jesus stood before Pilate, the governor, and Pilate asked "Art thou the King of the Jews?"
