Emily L. Schneider’s “The Heart Shot” is a charming, behind-closed-door romantic comedy. After witnessing her parents’ divorce and calling it quits on her romance with her unresponsive boyfriend, Elsie Faren, the main character, has given up on love. But her closest friend fools her into going to a couple’s picture shoot with Jameson Beck, a stranger.
Elsie is captured by Jameson’s cheery disposition and gentle personality despite her hardened heart. A spark blossoms between them amid the flirtation, flying donuts, and anxieties. But Elsie hesitates to put her heart in danger because she is afraid of what happens when love is broken.
