The Hill of Dreams is a 1907 novel by Arthur Machen (1863-1947), the Welsh author whose tales of mysticism and supernatural dread made him a master of weird fiction admired by H. P. Lovecraft. Largely autobiographical, it follows a young writer whose visionary imagination, kindled by the Roman ruins of his native Gwent, draws him away from the world toward beauty and ruin. Often called Machen’s masterpiece, the book is a landmark of decadent and visionary prose. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
