About this book
The History of the Knights Templars, the Temple Church, and the Temple is a work by Charles G. Addison of the Inner Temple, printed in London in 1842. It is dedicated to the Masters of the Bench of the Inner and Middle Temple, whom it calls the restorers of the ancient church of the Knights Templars.
The preface speaks of the order as born during the first fervour of the Crusades. One passage tells how the knights took their name from the Temple of Solomon at Jerusalem, quoting William of Tyre and James of Vitry. Another reproduces a long numbered list of charges made against the order. The footnotes cite chronicles, some in Latin.
