About this book
The Impossible Voyage Home by F. L. Wallace carries the line that the right question kept getting the wrong answer, but old Ethan and Amantha got the right answer by asking the wrong question. Marlowe, the training director, says space life expectancy has been increased to twenty-five months and six days, a gain of a full month.
Demarest comments that every ounce added cuts down on the payload, and that it is time in space that hurts. Amantha says it is just canalberries, which males, men and animals, just can't help eating, and which don't bother women or any other kind of females. One character thinks that only a few of the aged would fit in with his plans, though the rest would benefit.
