About this book
The contents of The Inner Beauty by Maurice Maeterlinck list The Inner Beauty, The Invisible Goodness and Silence. The text says nothing in the whole world is so athirst for beauty as the soul, and that nothing offers more scrupulous obedience to the pure and noble commands it receives. The text asks whether men would live purer lives were similar words to be spoken every evening.
The text quotes the great Plotinus, who says that if one proclaims not that it is beautiful and feels no charm of beauty on plunging the eyes into oneself, it is in vain to seek the intelligible beauty. The text also says that people wish to know what we have, but it is hidden far above the secret thought, and that it is our secret silence.
