About this book
The Little Minister is by J. M. Barrie, and its contents list includes chapters headed First Coming of the Egyptian Woman, First Sermon Against Women, and The Minister Bewitched with a Second Sermon against Women. Gavin says to his mother, God grant, mother, that she may never be ashamed to have him for a son, little thinking what was soon to happen. The text says Gavin would be a minister, with sermons to prepare, every one of them first preached to Margaret.
Margaret answers solemnly that she is saying nothing against the young ladies of Thrums, though she has scarcely seen them, and she knows there are good women among them. The text gives Jean's verdict as every one of them would jump at you, like a bird at a berry.
